- The accents and the differing terminology. I can’t help but like it. I can’t hear my husbands accent anymore, it’s just not there, but when I meet new people, I notice it and it still makes me smile.
- The films and tv (not all obviously, because quite a lot of it is really REALLY terrible).
I love the british mob movies and the music stopping, eye focusing film style. And Red Dwarf, because it makes me laugh. Every single time. (Rimmer got chubby! and looks drunk.)
- The restaurants. I like the fancy schmancy atmosphere and the three or four courses, everywhere. Except the pub, which have an entirely different kind of class all together. Not so much class, really as casual fun, far more fun than the atmosphere at Denny’s. And I like the coffee after the meal.
- Ginger beer, Fruit & Nut and fish and chips, which are infinitely better when you are really drunk.
- I appreciate how quick people are to make fun of each other, then laugh hysterically about it.
- The island is gorgeous. Really. I would probably like to visit, more than live here, but whenever I’m feeling claustrophobic, taking a drive around the island to see the views helps me get over the bad parts.
- Car boot sales.
