I’m getting ready to go to the beach for the weekend. The entire extended family is coming, too. We have rented multiple beach-front properties and are planning festivities such as poker tournaments, oyster barbecuing, sandcastle making and birthday cake eating (again. The Boy, he is spoiled). I am very much looking forward to it.

I’ve been preparing: making lists, doing laundry, and baking cookies. As you do. Actually, probably most people don’t do that latter. But, I’ve become a woman obsessed.

Mission: make the PERFECT chocolate chip cookie.

Right this very minute there is a silly amount of cookie dough chilling in the fridge. Chilling as in cooling off. Actually, kicking back would also be appropriate. Either way. The cookies du jour are Duncan’s choice, peanut butter chocolate chip. And mine, dark chocolate with pecans.

Though I have baked dozens of cookies in the last week, I have yet to find The One. My neighbors, they love me. As does the post lady and pretty much everyone I have ever met. The quest, it’s still on.
