This summer I was really, very blonde. So blonde that I cried the first time I saw myself. I went from something like this (which is quite close to my natural color).

Which is give-me-$50-bucks-and-I’ll-give-you-a-lap-dance blonde. Bad blonde, and bad picture. But we are looking at color here, folks.

I’ve been feeling the urge to go darker, thinking that perhaps the bleached out prostitute look is seasonal. And summer? It’s over.

I went to the salon, told my girl to match my roots… and said darker, darker, darker until I found this. And I freakin’ love it. All day at work, and out (small community, familiar faces are unavoidable), you dyed your hair… you went darker. The tone? Not so much complimentary. I just kept saying, “I know! Isn’t it fabulous?!” Because it really is.

I’ve been checking myself out in every reflective surface all day. I can’t get enough of it. I recommend that everyone go brunette. Seriously, like right now, while I go finish my glass of wine and watch Heroes.

    I love the new hair color! I went from dark blond to black for my 30th birthday and loved it until I tried to go back to natural. I’m telling you, it’s been a year and I still can’t get the color out.
