what would YOU do?

I’ve got an ethics question for you all.

Here is the scene (I am the green car):

I am at a stop sign, behind a blue Volvo. It’s raining and miserable and wet. The Volvo pulls out slowly to turn right away…

Only, the Volvo didn’t see , or didn’t look for, the blue Honda. Right there. The Honda slammed on the brakes, she skid all over the place, but still hit the Volvo.

I turn, and drive by, and notice the plates on the Honda.

You know that the hitter, never the hit, is always blamed. But it wasn’t her fault. She didn’t seem to be going over 50 and the Volvo pulled out in front of her then stopped. Stopped. You cannot DO shit like that.

I feel like I should call someone and say, “It wasn’t her fault.” Because it wasn’t.

I sometimes see fliers posted, or ads in the paper, saying “If you witnessed a collision on so-and-so road [three-weeks-ago]. PLEASE CALL 555-5555.”

But, say I call the State Patrol, and the two decided not to report the accident… then I am helping no one.

Am I meddling? Or being a good-deed doer?

    Good karma always comes back.
So, it doesn’t hurt to call either way.
I see it as doing good, not meddling.
If it happened to me, I’d want someone to call!

My husband was in a situation like that, he reported the accident to the police. The driver somehow got our number and was so grateful.

I think it would make you a good-deed doer.

I don’t know.. I might call the station to check if any accidents were reported. I’ve never had to do something like this before.
