I’m looking at new cameras, and I’d like some input.
My qualifications are this: It has to be fast. No thinking about the picture before taking it, just TAKE IT. No click, click, click, buzz, flash. Picture quality is also important, but it doesn’t matter how nice the picture is if by the time it actually takes, the subject is gone.
The last camera I had, that I loved, was a Fuji. I’ve had three Kodaks that I’ve hated. I especially hate the little point and shoot that I have now. So, I don’t really want an SLR because nearly a thousand dollars kind of makes my stomach hurt, yet cheap little ones… well, hate.
So, I’m looking for recommendations. What kind of camera do you have, and is it quick?

I have an Olympus Stylus 710 which I carry with me everyday. It is so small and light. It is quick, but there is no manual focus, so you have to pause until you get a green light. You can take multiple pics to capture action. You can take movies. The best part is that the battery lasts a long time between rechanges, unlike my Fuji which was always going flat. They don’t have this model any more, but they have similar. It is also weather proof!
I would go SLR if you want no wait time. You can get an entry level Canon or Nikon for about $400 now I think. Nikon D60 (replaced the D40 - but I think you can still get the D40’s even cheaper now). That’s my two cents!
If you like your Fuji, why don’t you take a look at the newer models?
Oh boy. People like Misty are far more qualified than I am to comment on this subject. Hope you end up with just exactly what you want and need!
I bought a Kodak and returned it the next day - hated it!
I had an Olympus that I loved, and I now have a Nikon which I like almost as much as the Olympus. If I had to do it again, I’d get another Olympus.

I’m with you on the Fuji! I have a Z5 in mocha and it’s fabulous! Plus it looks super cute, and not too geeky or girly. There are newer models now. Good luck! *Carol*
