Today I am blond. They say that blonds have more fun… the merits of which are debatable, but so far? So good.

Today (or perhaps more succinctly, early this morning) I finished a scarf that I feel like I have been knitting for months and months. It hasn’t actually been that long, but really. No scarf should take as long as this one did. Luckily, it’s pretty fucking rad, that makes it slightly more acceptable.

Today Duncan and I spent a few hours at the park, where he befriended a little boy in a Spider Man costume and I drank coffee, knit and wrote a letter. With a pen. On paper! There is too little proper letter writing going on these days.

Today I say that, but yesterday my friend found some letters that I wrote her when I was 15... and jesus christ. They were AWFUL. So mortifying. I cannot believe how fucking cool I thought I was. There was one entirely about how a boy named Andy who I was indignantly and raging pissed off at for telling me that I wasn't allowed to hug other boys. Apparently I was a big hugger at 15... I don't even REMEMBER an Andy, let alone one with whom I would have had the kind of relationship with that he'd be pissed off if I were hugging other people. Oh the innocence. If only hugging was my biggest problem now…

Today I made butternut squash lasagne. It was a recipe I saw on Christie’s blog… but unfortunately mine did not taste like pure awesomeness in my mouth. I’m pretty sure though that this is down to the fact that I am far, FAR more enthusiastic than I am talented in the kitchen. I also tried to make caramels this weekend… those made a hideous mess when they melted all over my counter. Yeah, that not what one would call a success. I wish that cooking was one of the things that I was good at. Yet, it’s really not. It’s unlikely that I’m going to stop trying though.

Today I have spent almost every free minute reading this web comic, Questionable Content. It kind of reminds me of Box Office Poison, completely compulsive and fun. I say that like I’m a big comic fan and I know what I’m talking about. But that isn’t really true at all. Box Office Poison just happens to be the one of the two graphic novels I’ve read, and this Questionable Content is nothing like Watchmen (which is surprisingly great, by the way). Anyway though, web comics… who knew?

Today I am in a better mood than I have been in for weeks. I think there is something to be said for three day weekends.
