“The baby moniter sits on top of the telly, so it’s usually in her line of sight.  She sees the lights flickering before she hears the wail, and gets up to fetch her son.  She takes the steps two at a time in a futile effort to regain her former slender thighs.  They never felt slender at the time.  If she ever gets them back, she will appreciate them.  She will tend them with the finest moisturisers, and she will keep them sleek and hairless.  She will worship them.”

“I smile at everyone, to show that I may be stupid, but that I am, at least, amiable with it.”

At a point in this book the main character writes a letter to the woman she is basically stalking,  then says to herself,  of course I would never send it,  she wouldn’t understand and only think I am weird.

She is weird.

It’s a bizarre story about a woman that was in the midst of a complete mental breakdown, but didn’t really know it.  It also made me laugh.

Really good, though totally unexpected.

Next : Never Look Back.  It’s long,  800 pages,  so hopefully it’ll be good and keep me entertained for awhile.
