This book was great for it’s very real content.  It was about the Child Migration Scheme that placed thousands of British orphans into children’s homes in Australia.

The abuse is staggering.  That any of these children turned into productive members of society is astounding, but many didn’t.

But, the story, it was fiction, and it was a very good story.  From what I know and have experienced the emotions and the guilt and the life altering effects of feeling worthless,  the author did a really good job.

She also did a good job of making it readable.  Because a story like this needs something to make you want to read it.  You have to get more from it than hurt.
