I really liked The Other Boleyn Girl, but this one… it was just fine.  I guess.

I liked the premise of the story,  a woman falling in love with her slave.  But, the story never quite got there.

The descriptions about slaving, and the business of it, were great.  They were vivid, actually enough so to give me a nightmare.  But the actual plot lacked description desperately.  The non-historical part, the fiction, was really weak.  The characters were undeveloped and annoying.

Overall it was rather blah and just alright.
