This book was captivating, from the very beginning.  The first paragraphs grabbed me with its darkness.

But.  BUT.  I think that this book, this story, these characters, could have been so much more.  It’s got some great literary themes, along with some great writing.
In the end, though, all of that description, style and depth gets trivialized by being just another ‘thriller’.

Even though I appreciated a lot of aspects of it, it was almost great, by the end I felt let down.
